Originally called Opticals & Textiles Ltd., Optex had a long history in the United Kingdom manufacturing lens conversions & accessories. Designed for Super16 specifically, the Optex Colcine Super16 2x Extender is traditionally used to alter the focal length of zoom lenses (or the occasional prime). Particularly useful when the subject of a shot is out of reach & moving closer just isn’t an option! Simply attach the Optex 2x Extender onto the lens before mounting on the camera body to increase the lens’ focal length by 2 times with only 2 stops of light loss transmission. As an example, when used in conjunction with one of Angenieux’s vintage zooms like the 12.5-75mm T2.5, it will become an Angenieux 25-150mm T4.5 Zoom lens.

*Note: Industry-standard Arri PL mount on the front & rear makes this lens extender easily compatible with a variety of vintage 16mm & 35mm lenses, along with many high speed modern lenses. Lenses with rear optical elements that extend too far beyond the rear PL mount flange WILL NOT fit this extender due to the placement of the optics.
