PRODUCT HIGHLIGHTS

The Visual Products SR3 HD Hyper Tap II is the High Definition Video Assist solution for all SR3 cameras. With this video tap there is no need to source and purchase additional hard-to-find/no-longer-manufactured parts in order to add an HD video assist to your SR3 camera. Whether your SR3 has the video handle/optics elbow, the Arri IVS system or no video tap at all, the Visual Products SR3 HD Hyper Tap II video assist can be fitted to your camera.

This SR3 HD video assist was custom-designed by Visual Products’ Senior Camera Technician/Designer Paul Scaglione. Its housing is manufactured from high-grade aircraft aluminum that has been finished with a hard black anodizing for added durability. Attached to the housing is a modern carry handle that is complete with multiple 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded holes as well as a 15mm lens rod receptor making it a great for mounting camera accessories like monitors and Cine Tape units. The carry handle can be mounted in four different positions and when not attached, the SR3 camera is no taller than it is with a stock ARRI IVS camera installed. The 3/8-16 handle mounting receptor/locator pin for the carry handle conforms to the Arri standard, so it will also accept Arri handles as well as handles that conform to the Arri standard. A last note about the housing: with the HD tap installed the viewfinder of the SR3 camera can still be fully swung over to the “dumb side” of the camera for those situations when the camera operator is not able to be on the smart side of the camera. This is not possible on SR3 cameras with IVS or video elbow units installed.

Inside the custom housing is a color HD video camera capable of shooting in NTSC and PAL. When shooting at 30fps (or 29.97fps) the video assist will provide a flicker-free image in its NTSC setting. For users shooting at 25fps on the SR3, the PAL setting of the HD video assist provides a flicker-free image on-screen. For users shooting at 24fps on the SR3, setting the HD camera in the PAL setting and viewing on PAL monitor provides a near flicker-free image (most modern HD monitors are NTSC/PAL auto-sensing). A detachable dongle connects to the video assist housing enabling the user to access the on-screen menu of the HD camera. This on-screen menu enables the user to adjust many settings on the HD video tap camera. The HD Handle tap is powered externally via the included power cable which plugs into the SR3’s 3-pin RS port. The HD Tap power cable can also be provided with a P-Tap connector for powering from a P-Tap port (please specify P-Tap when ordering). The internal HD camera has a voltage range of 10-30 volts.

Upgrading to the Visual Products SR3 HD Hyper Tap II means you can feed the video assist image from the SR3 tap straight to an HD monitor and see a full screen, color HD image. No need for an analog to digital up-scaler (which will be hanging from the side of the camera and require a power source). No need to find a standard-def monitor to view the fuzzy image of an old video tap. It works with wireless video transmitters like the Teradek and Meridian. And lastly, if you are going to stand a chance of pulling focus by watching the image on a video assist monitor, your odds of success increase exponentially with an HD image like the one provided by the Visual Products SR3 HD Hyper Tap II video assist.

PLEASE NOTE: When using the Teradek Bolt or other wireless video transmitters with the Visual Products HD Video Tap, make absolutely sure of proper voltage input and polarity to your video transmitter prior to connecting the SDI cable from the output of your Hyper-Tap II. If either the voltage or polarity to the Teradek Bolt transmitter (or other video transmitters) is incorrect, damage to the internal electronic components of the video tap can occur and will void repair cost coverage under the video tap's warranty.
