​Designed as the budget friendly version of the RED EPIC, the Scarlet-X camera brain is the same size as the EPIC brain with matching inputs & outputs while featuring compatibility with the myriad of RED accessories. By matching the ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits) chips from the EPIC with less complex electronics and accepting the lower data rates and capabilities, RED’s per unit costs drop dramatically and a ‘baby’ EPIC was able to be manufactured at a reasonable cost.
